ATTENTION COLLECTORS, SCHOLARS AND BIBLIOPHILES

The 7th Sydney Book Fair is approaching, when reputable dealers will be showing their wares at the Rex Centre in Kings Cross.

This popular event is becoming a must-go-to part of Sydney's cultural calendar.

They will present their old motor manuals, theatre programs, and colonial ephemera along with signed first editions, (adult) comics, postcards and catalogues raisonnes on major European, American and Australian artists.

Collectors will find rare and antiquarian books, signed material, and ephemera. Book lovers will find obscure specialist catalogues, out of print volumes and some unexpected surprises.

Some of the dealers are specialists, some are generalists. Their stock covers every conceivable topic, from Australiana to Zoology, from the decorative arts to military and local histories, from fiction to philosophy.

You can contact the organisers to find out whether anyone deals in your special area. And, since the dealers are bringing a fraction of his stock, they can ask them to bring the things you are interested in.

At a time when the trade in rare, antiquarian, specialist, and out of print books is increasingly conducted over the internet, this is a rare opportunity to browse, examine the books, and meet the dealers.

This is the seventh book fair to be held in Kings Cross, continuing the neighbourhood's long, distinguished, and only sometimes seamy relationship to books and writers.

This Fair is for every booklover, every collector and every reader. It is for young and old, and a great place to start collecting. You will find 200 year old books and modern first editions, and everything in between.

If you are already a collector then it is a great opportunity to meet the dealers.
